On Thursday, Ashok Leyland Ltd. was awarded a Rs 345.6 crore deal to supply Tamil Nadu State Transport Corp. with 1,475 passenger bus chassis of the BSVI diesel fuel type.
According to an exchange filing, there are no unfavourable terms or circumstances in the contract, and the order was given via a typical business prudential procedure.
The product is anticipated to be delivered by the company by May 2025. Except for the powertrain, the bus’s rolling framework is referred to as the chassis. It serves as the framework for the bus body, but it is devoid of parts like the driveshaft, engine, transmission, and other running gear.
According to its website, the Hinduja Group commercial vehicle manufacturer sells buses with the Garud and Lynx names. Additionally, Ashok Leyland declared the voluntary liquidation of its step-down subsidiary LLC Ashok Leyland Russia.
As part of a government campaign to electrify cargo transportation in India, the business secured the biggest order for electric trucks in October.
Billion Electric Mobility Pvt., an e-mobility-as-a-service platform of the firm that runs ChargeZone EV charging stations, will receive 180 electric trucks from the Chennai-based truckmaker. By the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year, Ashok Leyland will deliver its 14- and 19-ton BOSS electric trucks and a 55-ton electric tractor as part of the Rs 150 crore deal.
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 0.3%, while Ashok Leyland’s shares ended the day 0.52% lower at Rs 229.85 per, ahead of the news.
